Med Studentz -- Looking Forward
I started MedStudentz in 2006 because I was personally frustrated with the lack of information available online for medical students. Today, 8 years, 15,000 members, and over 5 million visitors later, I feel that I have accomplished my goal of creating a vibrant community where students come together to help one another as they pursue their career goals and dreams.
MedStudentz is larger and more popular today than it has ever been and the amount of relevant and up-to-date information our members have contributed is phenomenal. What started as a small site being hosted off of my PC in my apartment has grown to one with daily users from four different continents and over 35 different countries.
Today marks a new beginning for MedStudentz. Due to my increasing professional and personal commitments I am unable to continue devoting the time and energy that this community needs to continue its growth and success. For this reason, I have partnered with the excellent leadership at VerticalScope to transfer management control of MedStudentz to their company effective today. VerticalScope has not only the expertise but also the experience in helping communities like ours continue to grow and prosper long into the future.
I will still be on hand to help and answer questions whenever I can, and look forward to seeing MedStudentz continue to be a great resource for medical and pre-medical students from all over the world. I wish you all the very best in your career and life goals and thank you all for helping build such a wonderful community.February 19th, 2014, 01:15 AM #2
Just wanted to introduce my self to you all. My name is Philip and I am a community manager for Verticalscope.com and will be taking over the Web Master duties for Rehan here on medstudentz.com. I am here to help primarily with the technical end of things and help make the jobs of the current staff easier. I posted a real basic run down to answer common questions below. If you have more questions or concerns please post them.
What are our intentions?
We bring reliability, support and the infrastructure needed to ensure that the community will be around for years to come. It’s our goal to work with your board staff to help provide the resources and required to give this community a broader reach, to attract new members to better the overall knowledge shared in the community.
Will leadership change?
Continuity is the focus here, You as the membership work very hard to keep building this community while staff keep the walls and the roof up in this place; We are primarily here to make sure the lights stay on. Every community is unique and should always be respected in that regard. You guys have established your own unique rules and regulations and a strong reputation that is carried by all of this and it’s paramount that we maintain this level of integrity.
What am I here for?
My primary role is to be the technical contact as I said earlier you all built the foundation and keep the roof from falling, I am here keeping the lights on inside. I will be on the forum checking in daily to make sure regular maintenance is all taken care of and keep things running smoothly from behind the scenes.
I do look forward to getting to know you all and this unique community better.February 19th, 2014, 09:40 AM #3
Since I joined this forum this January & read posts by you, I found out that they were all really old posts, & I really wanted to see a post by you that was recent..I guess I got my wish but, the downside is that it's sorta a "Good bye" message..I know your gonna come on..but still, it's not the same..
Anyways, Thank you for this amazing site!
I hope you have a really happy life!
AND Hi Philip! ^_^~~Un chat retombe toujours sur ses pattes~~

Philip, any plans on how we can make this place even better now that you're at the helm?February 19th, 2014, 10:29 AM #7
Thanks for the update, Rehan. Life has a way of trying to sneak past us and we constantly endeavor to keep up. Thanks so much for all your hard work and dedication in creating a sorely needed straightforward, informative, and friendly forum of medicinally inclined people :p
Hi Philip, welcome to the team! It's great to hear you speak of the integrity of the site.
