mastahriz ..i would request you to lift up the restrictions on writing in short handwriting....this is because short handwriting saves our time and writing in full words is time consuming.........now this has taken me 2 mins to complete.....but if this was in short then it would have taken less than a minute............i hereby request you to allow us(the members) to use short handwriting..............#wink#yes ChIcKoOs #yes

I think the new rule is good. We are all pre-medical students, medical students or medical professionals here and since we have users from other countries other than Pakistan, to make this forum sound more professional and less childish, good posts in good English should be encouraged rather than the "SMS-style" posting...
It is not time consuming if you spend 3-10seconds more in one good post rather than making 2 useless post...December 2nd, 2008, 07:43 PM #3
SMS-style posting is annoying to read and often impossible to understand. While it may take a few extra seconds to write properly, please keep in mind that it saves the time of all the other users who won't have to sit and attempt to decipher posts.
This SMS-style posting also counteracts the search bar function, making it impossible for members to quickly find information that is written in shorthand. #angry
MedStudentz is a friendly forum but it is a professional forum as well and in the professional world nobody will take you seriously if you can't write properly.#yes
So the rule will remain.

Your reason for using shorthand isn't to save time, it's just to show off that you know how to write in what you think is a cool way to write English. If it was really something as practical as saving time the rest of the world would have beaten you to it, and correct me if I'm wrong, but I haven't seen it anywhere outside of Pakistan.
It's childish, unprofessional, saves you very little time if any at all, and it's harder to read for people who don't use it, whereas those of you who are brilliant enough to know shorthand can just as easily type and read normal English.December 6th, 2008, 06:15 AM #5

haha, ok so it's fair to say that some users have some pent up frustration at coming across those types of posts.
Anyways, no need to continue debating on the merit of this style of "writing" as the rule will continue to remain in effect.
