Accepting Rules Before Posting Every Time
Rehan, why i have to accept it every time before posting a reply "I agree that if i use incorrect spelling.........."
Its very annoying i can even use mobile forum apps like tapatalkNovember 19th, 2012, 09:03 PM #2
The reason we implemented this checkbox before posting is because many of our users simply do not believe that the rules on our site apply to them. Most of them do not even read the rules, much less try to follow them. All of the moderators here that do this job are volunteers. We don't get paid to do any of this and when users constantly make posts that contain shorthand, non-English text, or intentional misspellings (because they think it's cool, for some strange reason) it just makes more work for us. We constantly have to edit users' posts or delete them if they're not even comprehensible and it just increases the workload that we have to do to keep this site running smoothly.
The other thing is that we hate having to give anyone an infraction. Infractions are the points that we have to give users when they do not follow the rules and if a member gets a few infractions, their account becomes suspended and they're no longer able to post on the forum. We know people come here for help and need to be able to post about their specific issue so we really do not want to see anyone get their account closed and therefore hate having to give infractions.
So after the issue of users not following posting rules only getting worse instead of better we complained about it to the admin and asked if there was a way that a user would be forced to agree to the posting rules before creating a post. Our thought process was that it would be a gentle reminder to the user before they submitted their post about the posting rules. This way people would better understand the rules and follow them more, and also if they didn't follow the rules, we would not feel so bad about giving them an infraction.
I know it can be annoying for those users who don't need that reminder, and follow the rules when they post anyways, but the system will not require you to use the checkbox forever. Once you have some more posts and your account is no longer probationary, you will not have to accept the posting rules before creating every post.
I know this can be an issue with you not being able to post from Tapatalk in the beginning -- we are trying to work on a fix for that, but in the meantime I hope that my explanation has cleared up the reasons why we have implemented this policy.MedGrunt signing out...December 20th, 2012, 01:08 PM #3
