Anyone From Usa Here??
Hi. I am from the English section of editorial board of Shifa magazine. Im working on a piece about career counseling where various aspects of practicing and settling in usa) after graduation are going to be discussed and I need your valuable help and guidance regarding it. If you will be so kind as to spare some of your time to answer the questions listed below, it will be highly appreciated.
Brief outline of all the written and clinically oriented tests required to be given in order to obtain a license to practice.
The expenses of the entire procedure (including the registration fees for the tests, the visa application fees etc)
Are electives necessary for securing a job? What role do the letters of recommendation play? Are they necessary or can they be done without? How long does visa application take to process?
What, in your opinion, is the ideal time to start preparing for usmle
Can you please draft a rough timeline that should be followed for the usmle
Is IELTS an absolute requirement? How can one get exempted from them?
Is it necessary to do a house job in the home country to obtain a job??
Do test scores matter when it comes to obtaining a job?
What role does a Letter of Recommendation play during the entire procedure?
How big a role do co-curricular and research activities play in the making of resume and increasing the odds of getting a job?
What are the salaries that one can expect at the very beginning of house job? What is the cost of living in usa?
What problems are likely to be encountered while trying to settle in usa specially for girls?
What sub-specialties are less crowded and are more likely to land us a job?
What sub-specialties, in your opinion, are more suitable for girls?
Are there any native or foreign body sponsorship/scholarship programs that support students going abroad for elective or for specialization purposes?
In case a student contacts you for guidance and help regarding the entire procedure of clearing the test, doing electives and securing a job, how far will you be able to patronize him/her?
What is a better option in your opinion- going abroad right after graduation or after FCPS? Is FCPS more likely to secure a job or having a pre-hand experience of usa health care system more liable to help?
Your prompt reply will be much helpful as the magazine has to go into printing by the end of next month and i am to submit all the relevant information within a 3 days time limit. Im avidly looking forward to your response.
