I intend to train in Internal Medicine and Infectious Diseases with the aim of working in HIV care both in Zambia and the US.
I came to this site to get the word out that I have made podcasts and an image library as study tools for the USMLE Step 2. They are free, and here are the links: Picasa Web Albums - mcmumbi - USMLE II Images http://www.itunes.com/podcast?id=258435677

Join Date: Jul 2007 Status: Other Location: Los Alamitos, California, USA | 1) I will be a sophmore in high school next year. I think I may be the youngest here...
2) Cardiology
3) I chose cardiology due to personal medical history. In fact my choice of medicine is based on my life experiences. I am a product of IVF and was born premature with ASD, VSD and PDA. By selecting Cardiology, I'd be learning more about myself as well as helping and healing others.
4) As a doctor I believe that I will be able to relate to my patients thanks to my medical history. I am an immigrant from Singapore and hopefully my experiences in Singapore and the United States (which is my current location) will enable me to relate to a wider range of people.
5) I quite far away from medical school but I keep up with global medical news daily and I try to volunteer in services that are associated with medicine.
6) I would love to live in Europe, particularly France. Hopefully by the time I reach medical school, I will be fluent enough in French to make this dream a reality.
7) Not necessarily. More specifically, I'd like to go into surgery so working at a hospital is just fine for me.
Basically I joined this forum to learn more about the life of a medical student and see if this is the appropriate career path for me. I hope I will gain knowledge and insight from the threads that are started here.

| Introduction 1) I am a 5th year medical student at KAAU in the Middle East
2) When I started my medical education I was hoping to enter the mysterious world of neurology and help uncover the many secrets that we still don’t know about our very own minds! But 5 years can chance a man lol so currently I find my self attracted to many other medical fields such as neonatal cardiac surgery, genetic medicine and oncology.
3) When I wanted to become a neurologist at my early med years I wanted it because of the challenge and mysterious aspects of the field which does lack medical back ground I was at my first year any way, but after 5 years, after I have been into the OR and seen many causes and operations I found that all fields of medicine are truly amazing, just the sight of the patient smiling after a successful operation is truly a blessing.
4) I don’t count my self any better then my colleagues I do how ever try to improve my self as much as I can and live up to my family's expectations of me.
5) I attended at an oncology clinic with my uncle last summer for 2 month and now I am attending an orthopedic clinic with another relative. I did enter the OR numerous times with my uncle and his colleagues and I found it most educational. I also spent 1 month training with my mother whom is a head nurse in KFH learning about the basics of injections, sanitation, and infection control. 6) I would love to continue my medical career here in KSA with my family and loved ones.
7) I would love to follow in my grandfather's foot steps and open my own clinic but that is some thing only the future can tell for sure. 8]I wish I would be a consultant in what ever specialty I have taken, and work in the same hospital that my mother is in because to me my mother is the best nurse I have ever seen. And to help my baby sister in her medical education since she wants to go into med school one day too. I also want to start my own family and who knows maybe god will bless me with a healthy child that I can pure all my knowledge and experience raising him/her to become better then my self. Amen!
