Assistance please?

Hey guys,

For starters, I'd like to say that I'm not a med. student and really have no intention of becoming one. However, I have taken an interest in the study of biology and health; I dabble.

My nature as an artist and writer has lead me to conceive an idea for a comic book, one of the characters being an "undead" named Ghost. The basics behind his power rise from sudden and rapid cell death that eventually leads to the remaining live cells "clinging" to those that have died.

My question for you is, how believable is it for someone to die via car accident and undergo such rapid degeneration only to be revived by doctors? Is there any sort of insight you could give me as to the behavior of living cells that have to mingle with dead cells? In a "superhero" universe, could one garner abilities from such an existence? Admittedly, with the living cells clinging to the dead ones, wouldn't this leave the character with less weight?

If anyone could give me more scientific insight on how to make this character work, it'd be much appreciated. For a reference, the character's powers are:

- Superhuman Speed
- Resilience (due to his undead nature)
- Increased Accuracy
- Levitation

And, for the record, I'd like to say that I've thought of decay and decomposition already. I understand that Ghost would likely continue to decay, so I took care of that via another character. However, I would still appreciate insight on how this character could, technically, work.

hmm i really dont think anyone would want a half dead guy superhero whose decaying all the time......."hey let me save you lady!! oh no my my arm is decayed"........................from a medical point of view its really absurd.......why the hell would the body wana keep dead cells......i mean dead cells cant do anything so the body will just get rid of em........

a half dead guy having superspeed and the powers of levitation? comon man!
