i need help! (general question about equivalence/admission)
i just got my a level result and my equivilency will be 880.
do i have any chance in any government medical college? id be willing to go to multan or bahawalpur or sargodha. do you know any people who got admission with grades around that much and still got in?August 10th, 2008, 05:57 PM #2August 10th, 2008, 08:25 PM #3
Whats the urgency? Someone to reassure you or someone to smack your dreams to china town?Never let the fear of striking out, keep you from playing the game.August 10th, 2008, 10:24 PM #4
the urgency was that i was depressed like hell and i guess i was looking for someone to tell me a story about so and so who got in with marks less than me. youre right, either way it was dumb. i was already depressed, still am, and if someone had said "you dont have a shot", i would have started bawling again. but the first reply is helpful, its what my parents have kept telling me. youre right.
still, does anyone know how many marks you need for faisalabad or multan or something? cause i still want to know how many marks people usually need to get there. i dont need reassurance now, i just want to be practical and see where i stand.
wwwwwwwwwwwhhhhhhhhhhhy do i have to be from a country full of competitive geniuses with near perfect grades and barely any opportunity. its like theres one prize and thousands want it and theyre all more deserving than me. i just know ill be a good doctor, i just suck at math and physics and i need to conquer those to get there. although i dont have to be good at them to be a doctor. today i saw pictures of people who already won gold medals in the first day of the olympics and it just made me mad. what is it with all these stinking overachievers. why do there have to be so many of them in pakistan?!?!
seriously does anyone know someone who got in gov. medical colleges in punjab with marks like mine?August 12th, 2008, 01:36 AM #5
reassurance: not much of it would b given to u but there is always hope as in your case that also is not much
the best thing u can do is apply to all private med colleges in pak, reserve a seat in a college that gives u an offer and then try for the gov college
iv been thru wid this, had 935 equivalence but no admission nowhere
so u c why not much hopeAugust 14th, 2008, 11:03 PM #6

How is even possibile for American students to get around 80% on the equivalence since they deduct 20% on all your grades?
By the way, other than the Pre Med subjects, what other objects do they look at to make up the total 800 points for American students?August 19th, 2008, 02:10 AM #12
pretty much everything except stuff like drivers ed, PE, foreign languages. However stuff like Math, English, History, etc do count.
And you're right, it's extremely difficult to achieve anything over 915 on the equivalence because of the deduction, and without any AP classes I think the max is something like 880.
