I just read this on the higher education commision website under eligibility criteria for students applying under self finance scheme:
"4. The student should not have a study gap of more than two years after passing his HSSC or Equivalent Examinations."
This is my last semester in college... in fact i am taking physics right now cause thats the only class i need in order to apply for med school in Pakistan.
But the thing is that I graduated from high school in 2002.
Does this mean that I cannot apply to medical school in Pakistan??????
u might want to check with them mano, but in my case, i was a 2005 grad, and i just applied now, in 2008, that is three years...and there was no restriction or anything on me. ... so i doubt that even matters.
i would check with the HEC as well but my cousin applied last year and they told her that she had a "study gap" as well because she had finished high school in the us in 2004 but she talked to the hec and explained that it wasnt technically a study gap since she was pursuing further studies and it worked out fine for her. she applied under self finance and ended up getting into fatima jinnah in lahore.
i would say dont worry about it but if it does become an issue then just write the hec letter explaining that you are just continuing your education and if it REALLY becomes an issue then the rule technically says "equivalent examination" and you are working on getting your physics in order to get your equivalence certificate. so i really wouldnt worry about it until something comes up.
I never had any trouble with that rule, I had a four year gap between HS and my college graduation and I just got in to DIMC for the upcoming semester and had no problems with any "gap issue". And DIMC is self-finance.
mano u shud be more specific like u shud say that if one is applying to HEC does that study gap thing matter
and yes it does if u have not studied for more than two yrs after u graduated from ur high school
it does not matter much in private colleges
