Hi, I live in Canada and I have applied to AKMU and I will be applying to other Pakistani Medical Colleges as well such as KEMU and AIMC. I will be giving SAT Subject Tests in Biology, Chemistry and Math on June 6. My question is that should I write Math Level 1 or Math Level 2? Is there a preference by the Medical Colleges?
what I did was travel to pakistan from USA and just visited school by school and met with the principles and they all told me the same thing come back when you have your IBCC & SAT 2. also last year I could have had admission in some mbbs programs but I arrived in Pakistan too late unfortunately. I would go again like September or october. I went december 1 which was way too late. i would say leave after october SAT
My SAT 2 is on June 6. I am giving it in Chemistry, Biology and Math Level 1. For now all I can say is that practice is the key. And out of all the books available I find Princeton Review books to be the best for SAT 2.
Seriously? I have Barrons and Princeton Review for Chemistry. However, I find Barrons to be way to complex. Princeton Review is very to the point. But I haven't looked at Barrons Biology book. Do you suggest i should?
"It didn't help much once I took that SAT Bio on May 2. Had to rely on my AP knowledge to get me through the test. Had too much extraneous info that was not even mentioned. Of the entire book, only 1/4 of it kinda helped."
I felt the same. the Bio Sat Book from Princeton Review was not that helpful for the may 2 exam
The Princeton Review SAT BIO was easy to understand and it did not take much mental effort to get through it. But the mistake I made was using Only Princeton Review SAT BIO. I agree with you though that Barron's SAT bio is so detailed and has a lot of information that it takes a long time to understand each chapter and the Barrons Practice Tests are way harder than the actual SAT Bio.
Math level 1 is not accepted by medical colleges in Pakistan,so there is no point of giving that. You need to take maths level 2 in order to be eligible for the admission.
Hania Malik - U just made my nights sleepless . Actually? But I only have 2 days now, I can't prepare Math Level 2 now. Do u know anyone who faced a similar situation?
1. The applicant must hold foreign nationality at the time of admission.
2. The applicant must have passed Higher Secondary School or equivalent examination (minimum 60%) with the following combinations of subjects:
a) For MBBS / BDS / Pharm-D: English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology. b) For B.Sc. Engineering: English, Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics
3. Additional Requirements for admission in MBBS/BDS under Self Finance Scheme is as under:
i. The candidate have also either passed the entrance test of the concerned institution/admission board or passed SAT-II with minimum 550 marks in each subject i.e. Chemistry, Biology and 3rd subject could be Physics or Mathematics. ii. Valid TOEFL or IELTS with score of 500 or 5.5. (not applicable for those students whose medium of instruction is English at HSSC level).
I am giving SAT II on June 6 too. *Fingers crossed*
I have the same combination too, however instead of Math Level 1 i am giving Physics just to be on the safe side and not get in some bs about Math Level II or I acceptance.
My first choice is AKMU, but the chances of getting in are extremely slim for me. If not AKMU then I don't care any XYZ will do. I will apply for the government colleges and any private colleges that I can find out about.
Ehh, I would prefer Islamabad but I guess Peshawar wouldn't be bad either. I am originally from Peshawar and my grandparents have a house there. Peshawar is kinda behind the times a little bit. Islamabad is a bit more modern. But at this point I don't really care I just want to start MBBS
