Hi, I live in Canada and I have applied to AKMU and I will be applying to other Pakistani Medical Colleges as well such as KEMU and AIMC. I will be giving SAT Subject Tests in Biology, Chemistry and Math on June 6. My question is that should I write Math Level 1 or Math Level 2? Is there a preference by the Medical Colleges?

Thank You.

Ohh... I see. Living in Peshawar is going to a lot more convenient for you but living in Islamabad is going to be a lot more fun for you.
So is it like you applied last year and you are applying again this year?

And one question, why Pakistan for medical? Like what exactly motivated you for this? Why not university in America?
Just want to know if we, Pakistanis living abroad applying for medical in Pakistan, all have the same reasons or are on different boats towards the same destination.

Yeah I mean I have been in USA for middle school and High school so I am not really used to Pakistan type living. I like Islamabad because its modern. Yeah I applied last year and I did not get in because I applied too late.

Pakistan for medical because its faster and cheaper and no bachelor of science required. I tried to get admission in a BS/MD program but I got rejected because they required a 2350/2400 SAT score ! Also my cousin who is a Pakistani American went for MBBS after High School in America and did her steps in 4th & 5th year and started residency at age 23.

For non-governmental sector, I am aiming for Army Medical College in Rawalpindi under NUST (Accepts NET and SAT II) otherwise CMH (accepts SAT II/MCAT) in Lahore. (In my opinion these are the best private/semi-government institutions in Punjab)

For Governmental sector, I am aiming for King Edward Medical College and Allama Iqbal Medical College. (Accepts only Punjab MCAT)

And as you know IBCC deducts marks for people who have done high school from abroad. We are at um lets say significant disadvantage.:?
Lets hope for the best.

What score are you guys expecting out of 2400 on the SAT II?

Yes I am really looking forward to it. But honestly I think it won't be that bad for you. It's easier to make friends in Pakistan than in America/Canada. And for Urdu.. Start watching Hum Tv dramas :D

CMH is a very renowned private colleges. One of my friends who lived here in Canada goes there and she is loving it. About AMC I just figured out last week. I had no idea NUST had medical. NUST is the best institute in Pakistan for engineering so I think there medical would also have some standard.

They do deduct marks and its a huge disadvantage. Even the people who are doing O/A Level in Pakistan lose mark

For the SAT score... I'm seriously hoping to make it around 2000

going to use some propranolol before the SAT 2 exam tomorrow morning. I believe I have anxiety + stress-induced cognitive dysfunction.

Oh yeah for you it would not be hard to adjust back to Pak living. for me it will suck, I only know Pashto & English. I can barely speak urdu. I can understand it though.. :(

I don't have an idea about CMH but for AMC as quoted on their website
The last date for SAT scores to reach NUST is July 15, 2015. Scores received after the deadline will not be entertained. The NUST institutional code to receive SAT scores is 2790.
Candidates applying on SAT basis have to enter their SAT Subject Test scores in their application form. Those who do not enter their SAT scores by 15 July 2015 will be assigned zero weighting.

http://www.nust.edu.pk/Admissions/Under-Graduate/Pages/Frequently-Asked-Questions.aspx
^ I do advise you to go through the entire thing once.
You should also prepare your SAT application form for NUST (entering the details etc etc) so its ready before hand. (

Don't worry about SAT scores yet, the threshold is pretty generous in Physics, Chemistry and Biology.
25th June is the Result. :bag: Lets hope for the best!

However if given the choice between AMC and CMH.I don't know which one i would choose.:? Which one would you choose?

Nab33l - Thank you so much. I will. I thought applications would start in September. I was completely relaxed. Given the option I think I would go with CMH. This is not because I think CMH is better than AMC, this I cannot say yet as I don't have much knowledge about both the colleges. I am from Lahore and my family lives there so it is much easier for me to live in Lahore. I have never even been to Rawalpindi and I know no one there. So for the sake of better accommodation I would choose CMH.

Kobefan234 - I think the SATs were pretty easy. Like the content was almost similar to the practice tests. There was nothing unexpected or new. But I wasn't able to manage the time. That was probably because I didn't practice with taking time into consideration. If I would get a chance to do them again I could do much better.

How did your SAT's go?

Its no problem. Tbh, I might go with CMH too (If given choice between CMH and AMC) because my situation is similar to yours. I am from Lahore and haven't been to Rawalpindi either.

As for the SAT's i am totally lost about what the score might be. I found enough time for Biology but i was short of time in Physics.

As for applying in CMH, I think its around October-November. (Last year it was November 1st so its safe to say it would be around the same time this year. CMH-LAHORE MEDICAL COLLEGE )
I didn't do Physics but for Biology I agree there was enough time. As for the score, 10 days to go :p . And for CMH, thank you and good luck :)

Hey guyzz...plz tell me tht do we yave to make combined equivalence for o n A levels or they have to be made separately? ??
I think you have to get them done separately. Your O level score will be equivalent to Matric and your A level score will be equivalent to FSc. But the same institution will be doing it.

Yes i did and its still my first choice but after my SAT 1 score... well, I'm not so sure. The chances of me getting in are pretty slim. I did not do as well on SAT 1 as I would have liked. I got 1820/2400 and Aga Khan requires a minimum of 1800. So thats why I have started looking at other colleges.
Yes for SAT 2 they require a minimum of 650 in each subject.

Hey guys, if I am taking the UHS exam do I need SAT?
I want to try for AMC, CMH and KEMU....
This is what I have planned according to the information I have:
1. Get my domicile and equivalence certificate
2. Try out for NET 1 with my Olevel equivalence
3. Try out for NET 3 because NET 1 was pathetic
4. Join KIPS academy and take MCAT...
5. Wait for results which might just get me into CMH or KEMU

oh and do you know of anyone who's gotten into AMC in local seat after having done Alevels.
