    electives in us

    can anybody tell me how important are electives for applying for residency in us??is it relly very very important or i can go ahead without it too?

    well it depends on what you want to do as a doctor...if you want to go in surgery or higher specialties then yeah it is highly recommended. If you want to go in something like family practice, peds or IM... then not so much. But doing electives can boost your chances if getting residencies tho.
