Hi there!

So I failed at getting into any university for medicine in England this year, and after getting over the initial depression I've decided to take a gap year and re-apply, but this time I want to apply to universities here and well as in Pakistan. I've read countless threads but I'm still a bit confused about dates and when the procedure starts.

I did Physics AS level last year as in 09-10 and then dropped it for the second year and carried on Biology, Chemistry and Mathematics since we don't need Physics here. My college don't let students sit any exams privately so I'm currently on the look out for a college that will let me do the second year of Physics. I'll have my Bio, Chem and Maths results this August and hopefully the Physics A level result in August 2012. So is it possible for me to apply after August and still get in to do medicine in 2012? I really don't want to take another gap year and worst comes to worst I'll just do a stupid degree here that I have no passion for whatsoever and waste my life away. There's a bright thought.

If it is possible for me to get into med school the same year how do I go about it? I've read up on IBCC and all that stuff but what dates do I have to be aware of? Also here after you finish your 5 year degree you do 2 years of F1 and F2 training before you're given a license to practice, is it the same in Pakistan. Will it be possible for me to do my training in England instead?

Any other information you think would be relevant to me would be awesome. I really want to know how universities (Pindi medical specifically) teach their course. Is it problem bas learning or traditional lecture based? How much clinical exposure do you get and how soon and also whether you get full body cadavers or not etc.

Thank you! If you've read all that and not dozed off from boredom then I am truly in awe of you :)

Whilst you're being your kind selves could you also tell me if I have to personally go and get the IBCC stuff done or if I could post/fax the documents and get a relative to do it. I'm already planning to go to Pakistan for a month in June for some work experience at a hospital, some charity work and generally just getting a feel of the place, I'd rather not have to make multiple trips in one year. i was really hoping to save up and travel elsewhere! :) Thanks againnn!

Calling IBCC and asking would probably be more reliable then going with what people post on a forum .. I'd also advice calling up the admissions offices of the unis your interested in .. admissions officers deal with things like this all the time and im sure they can help out... especially colleges like Dow international where the majority of students are foreigners and have probably shared similar problems .. they should be able to guide you or atleast walk you through standard admissions procedures ..

hey..do u have a relative in pak? someone who cud personally go get the ibcc stuff done? phone fax may work but i think nothign wworrks better than actually going and making them do whtever conversions r needed..that's wht i had done anyways...as for admission directly, sure u cud...i think... i'd asked DIMC end of last year (when their classes had started), and they were still willing to accept me... so i think even if u apply by summer that's fine..i think u'll b able to find schools :)

Thank you for the help everyone, I've decided not to apply in Pakistan just because I can't see myself spending 5-7 years there. I shall be attempting to delete my account now, thank you all again! Some of you on here are absolutely amazing with all the help you give :) Good luck to y'all!
