Hey what's happening guys!

I'd love to share my experience with ya'll but right now I'm a little short on time, but for now I'm just SUPER happy that I cleared the first substage -- I was sooo relieved after that. A day or two before I was feeling pretty depressed/gloomy and in that whole "o man why did I come to Pakistan" mindset but ever since the substage I've been really happy so the moral of this story is study for your substages and you'll be a happy camper

it happens bro. i remember taking my head neck stage viva with the prof. of anatomy (madam atiya), she asked me everything and anything. I spent like a good 20-25mins in there (as so i was told by my friends, but believe you me it felt like an eternity) I remember telling her all the nuclei and all the courses of each and every single cranial nerve along with lesions at different places. I ended up getting a 55. I was so pissed, but hey a pass is a pass.

But in my prof viva she remembered me and only asked my 2 questions and i got 1st div in anatomy!

its all luck bro. it comes down to this phrase "pass is a pass" as long as you pass, be it with a 50 or a 65, 70. You passed bro!

just look at it this way---the professors must think that you're really smart if you're getting asked all the super hard questions. they only ask students the basics if they think that that's all they can answer

hey taimur! ur experience so far in pakistan seems like a pain.. what does ur schedule look like everyday? like what time do you go to class, when do you get home, how much time do you spend on hw, etc.. do you have any time to actually socialize/meet with family? or is it all just studying, day and night?

major pain in the gluts!!!....my sciatic nerve was firing impulses of pure pain
(we had a written substage on the gluteal region and popliteal fossa, im scared i mite flunk it cuz i missed som pts, and time was short, pray for me)

well from:
8-9 we got anatomy demo or physiology
9-10 we get anatomy lectures or physiology
10-10:30 BREAK!!!
10:30-12 is either dissection or an hour of biochem or physio
12-2:30- sometimes dissection or physio

i get home around 2:45, they usually leave us before 2:30,
they dont really give you any HW, its basically just studying, 3 hrs, as Mastahriz has said is a good amount to study daily, but for me its more like a maximum of two.......but before tests u got study more if u knw wut i mean........yeah you get to socialize with pals, family etc. mostly on the weekends though, sat and sun,.............its really depressing here though, they give u a maximum of like 65% on all kinds of tests, and u flunk on 49% so there is a really small margin, u gotta know alot to pass here,..........

IM REQUESTING YOU ALL TO PRAY FOR ME!!!!!!

Yeah it's kinda tough right now because I sort of have no idea of what's going on lol! Physio is going by so fast I don't even know where to begin reading. Anatomy so far is the only regular subject w/a fixed schedule. The problem with anatomy though is that it's so tough, at least at this initial point, that I hardly get any time to look at any other subject. Personally speaking, I haven't had much time to do anything but study and meet a bit of my family nearby (but not for very long). I think my main problem right now though is I don't really know what's expected and how long and how much I need to study. Also like I find it hard to enjoy other stuff because I'm stressed over how much material has been covered in class and that there's no way to cover it all at home so I feel like I'm falling behind everyday, even if I study a lot.

Any advice? I'm trying to stay calm but it's just that I'm so new to the system that adjusting is taking a while. Any words of wisdom/comfort would be much appreciated from any well-experience Pakistani med. student . Oh and pray for me as well!

Oh yea on a positive note, the kids in our batch at KE are pretty nice/friendly and it's fun talking/joking around with them so I guess that's one thing I'm enjoying as part of my first year experience . It helps you get through the 6-day school week and boring/super confusing lectures haha!
